All types of optical media
Production process from authoring to packaging

Compact discs are polycarbonate discs containing digitally encoded information that is read by optical laser light. They were initially designed to replace vinyl music records. They became very popular due to their high capacity, reliability, and low cost. They were developed jointly by Philips and Sony in the late 1970s. We offer various types of optical media such as CD-R, DVD, DVD-R, mini CD, and many others. We provide a wide range of special effects and printing on discs.

1. AUTHORING

Authoring is the process of specially preparing materials to be written to a CD or DVD. It involves processing, encoding, and combining files containing images, sound, and graphics into a cohesive and functional whole. With proper preparation, audio and video materials are saved in a format compatible with the specifications of the disc, ensuring correct playback on target devices. The scope of authoring services is flexible and can be tailored to the client’s needs and technical disc requirements.

2. GLASS MASTERING PRODUCTION

A stamper (matrix) is created based on the so-called master – the source material provided by the client. The first step is to check the provided master for recording accuracy (without interfering with the content of the master itself). The checked material is laser-etched onto a specially prepared glass disc covered with a photosensitive layer (called glass). At this stage, the process resembles burning a disc in a computer’s burner. Then, the glass is metallized, and the resulting layer reflects the recorded material.

3. ELECTROPLATING

The glass disc is then placed into a galvanic chamber, where a nickel layer is created through electrolysis. The nickel separated from the glass forms a matrix – a “mirror image” of the glass (the stamper). The matrix undergoes further mechanical processes and is then checked for mechanical, optical, and electrical parameters. The created matrix/stamper is the basis for the disc pressing process.

4. PRESSING

The pressing process occurs in high-performance injection molding machines, where under high pressure, polycarbonate crystals are molded into discs, and the stamper created in the glass mastering process is pressed into them. Through vacuum metallization, a layer of aluminum is applied to the discs, followed by a thin protective lacquer coating. The entire process is fully automated. The pressed disc produced is characterized by high quality and durability.

5. CD PRINTING

We offer a wide range of printing options on CD and DVD discs that will attract the audience and encourage them to choose your disc. We have one of the largest machine parks in Poland, equipped with screen printing, digital, and offset printing machines, all equipped with scanners to read unique markers on CD and DVD discs.

6. PACKAGING AND PRINTING

We offer a wide range of disc packaging options – cardboard, paper, PVC, envelopes, unipacks, digipacks, and classic Jewel Box cases. We take care of every aspect of the packaging production – from graphic design to the final finish, offering various enhancement options such as embossing, selective varnishing, varnishing, or hot stamping. This ensures that the packaging is not only functional but also visually attractive and aligned with the vision of the artist or publisher.
We also produce custom packaging on special request. At every stage, we provide professional assistance to ensure the final product meets your expectations.

7. QUALITY CONTROL

Every disc pressed by us undergoes strict quality control for sound and visual appearance. We also check packaging for aesthetic quality to ensure you receive a product with exceptional sound and perfect presentation.

8. PACKAGING AND DISTRIBUTION

We have our own logistics department to ensure your products can safely reach any corner of the world. Once your discs are pressed, our specialists carefully handle and package them. XDISC has both manual and machine-based packing departments.
There is also the option for numbering and signing the discs. With us, everything is customizable. For your convenience, we offer all services in one place in Warsaw.
